Our Chancel Choir is a dedicated group of adult and high-school singers who offer anthems and musical leadership every week during worship. The repertoire is theologically sound and musically eclectic covering the entire range of sacred choral literature. There is a strong emphasis on developing spiritual depth, expressive musicianship, skilled vocalism and sight reading. New singers are always welcome.

Rehearsals:

Wednesdays from 7:00 - 8:30 pm, September through June. Rehearsals that fall during holiday periods are often cancelled.  Choir rehearsals are always open to observers.

Accompaniment:

The Chancel Choir sings both accompanied and a capella. Principal accompanist is Marie-Helen Belanger who plays both the Steinway grand piano and the Berkshire, neo-baroque, pipe organ. Guest instrumentalists are often invited to join with the choir on flute, trumpet and violin. A brass quartet always provides accompaniment on Easter Sunday.

Affiliations:

South Church Chancel Choir and music director, Phil Brown are affiliated with the United Church of Christ Musicians Association and with Choristers Guild.

Outreach:

South Church Chancel Choir participates in St. Johnsbury area ecumenical choral events offers worship leadership at St. Johnsbury Heath and Rehab. on a a regular basis.


Recordings

All worship services at South Church are recorded for broadcast on the local public access television channel KATV Channel 7 . Archived recordings are also kept in the church office. Recordings posted to this web-site are limited by copyright restrictions; however some additional recordings of choirs and other music are available on our YouTube channel .
